Women in Baseball Zine

It’s hard to love something that doesn’t love (or like or respect) you back. (I’m talking about baseball.)

Pages from a 16-page zine of drawings of women ball players, past and present.

On the cover: Alta Weiss (b. 1890) who pitched for a men’s semiprofessional team at age 17.

And the spread: On the left is Jackie Mitchell who, in an exhibition game, struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in succession. On the right is Mo’ne Davis, the first girl to pitch a shutout in Little League postseason history and who said, “I throw my curveball like Clayton Kershaw and my fastball like Mo’ne Davis.”
